Home State: Delaware
Hobbies/Interest:  gardening, antiquing, travel (usually to historic places) and traveling little backroads to see what we find.
Profile: I am a mother of two children and the grandmother of three wonderful grandchildren. My husband and I began collecting antiques over 20 years ago and were always interested in the best that we could find. I am partial to furniture with original red paint but also love mustard paint. Most of our best furniture was bought at least 10-15 years ago when you could still find really good pieces. We have been told by more than one antique dealer that our sliding door cupboard
in the living room is probably one of a kind and could they buy it - but we have always said no!
I am a PhD student at the University of Delaware in Plant Science and I am what is called a 'native gardener' - meaning that my gardens are composed of native plants that look great, don't need any pesticides, watering or soil additives, and attract lots of wildlife. We have even seen red-tailed hawks sitting on our fence - and we live in a development surrounded
by houses.  I am starting
my own mail order business selling antique smalls and "not so old" primitive items at my website: picturetrail.com/winterberryfarm
My home and garden is
already on the site and I hope to have the business up and running within the next week. Everything that
I will be selling in the "not
so old" category will be made in the US by individual artisans. About 15 years ago we added our greatroom with a 8'x5'x3' walk-in fireplace. We use the fireplace during the winter and everyone who comes over loves to just sit by the fire. We have an annual Christmas party and the favorite place for people to gather is in front of the fire instead of in the kitchen and it is fun to have the grandkids over so they can roast marshmallows indoors! Our grandkids always want to spend the night - usually with friends, because all of the kids in the neighborhood think our house is cool and possibly haunted. LOL!
