Interests/Hobbies: Decorating, Decorating, DECORATING-I love to decorate! I enjoy woodworking, creating new things, seeing a raw piece of wood become a primitive piece to display in my home makes me smile. I love to garden, getting out and working in the dirt, being out with nature, it just soothes my soul. I have a passion for writing poetry…it’s my therapy! I love photography, I find great pleasure when I have my camera in hand, every click of the shutter is a simple little ‘snapshot of happiness’ for me. Above all else, my family is my most precious joy in life.

Primitive & Colonial Inspired Homes
My name is Kath, I live in N. Western PA. with my husband, our three dogs and three cats…(the cats are all strays we took in). We love animals, and nature. We live in a valley surround by hills, our home sits on a dirt road and out back runs a creek, it’s the perfect setting.
We purchased our 70+ year old home as a “fixer-upper” and have put our hearts and souls into this place! We’ve done all the work ourselves, remodeling, additions, updating, along with clearing the land and constructing a garage and a workshop/guest house, a gazebo and even a pond and a greenhouse. We’re blessed with the ability to do the work ourselves and we feel fortunate, everyday, to have the opportunity to live here and to call this our home. It truly has been our Labor of Love!
My decorating absolutely reflects ‘me’, I think. I tend to lean towards warm colors when decorating. I won't have white ceilings, seems a bit warmer, to me, if you add some color to a ceiling. I love many styles of decor, I can’t connect with just one, to me that would be like planting my garden in only roses! So, I try to incorporate a little bit of everything that I love. From Primitive-Colonial, to Country-Farmhouse to Old World-Rustic…my love for these furnishings is the easy part…searching for and finding the treasures to place in our home is the thrilling part….trying to get them to all flow together throughout our home, that‘s the tricky part.

I am a self professed “tweaker”decorating is so much fun for me and I enjoy changing things around, nothing stays in one place for very long in our home. My husband and I both love wood, any wood, all wood, so we don’t have a lot of painted trim and moldings. We’re also drawn to hand forged wrought iron, brick, and stone, those elements that add such wonderful [yet simple & timeless], character to a home. We try to find a place for all the things we are fond of, whether it be inside or out.

Since we love many of the same things, it made refurbishing this old house a pleasure, rather than a job. We both seemed to ‘see the same thing‘ when we first looked at this old house, we saw POTENTIAL! It was hard work, and took some time, but...14 years later, this is what 'we saw' in the very beginning....
Thanks so much for taking a peek into our home.
From our home to yours, many happy blessings,
Kath
